What is considered a crochet motif? It’s any crochet shapes, small or big, that you can join together to make something larger.

The most commonly recognized motifs used in all types of patterns are granny squares, which are often pieced together to make a blanket or garment. But literally, anything can be a motif – crochet flowers, letters, hearts, and more.

Today I’ve got a roundup for you of crochet patterns to specifically make squares, hearts, flowers, and then some other fun oddballs at the end!
