Check out this cool crochet project posted on Flickr by Margaret Wertheim.

She notes that this hyberbolic crochet cactus garden was created in 2006 and was on display at the Los Angeles County Fair. She notes that the Institute for Figuring has a book of hers that shows how to make this as well as other interesting crafts. I haven’t seen the book yet myself but am intrigued just by the smart name of the title, which is: A Field Guide to Hyperbolic Space: An Exploration of the Intersection of Higher Geometry and Feminine Handicraft. Wow.
