In case you’re new here, the deal is that all week long people on Instagram tag their own crochet photos with the tags #crochetconcupiscence or #crochetsavedmylife and I collect them here on Sundays, curating them into at least a few related themes so we can see the trending items. Not all of the photos make it (doubles, blurry images, private accounts are examples of some that aren’t here) but of course you can see them all by looking at the tags on Instagram itself. Feel free to tag in if you want to share your crochet. Here’s today’s roundup!
Featured Instagrammer #1
I’ve got two featured Instagrammers this week, for no other reason than because I couldn’t choose between them and figured that I’d share them both. The first featured Instagrammer is Jackie of joyfuljaxcrochets.and.knits. She describers herself on Instagram: “Crochet & Knit Addict • Pattern Designer • Blessed Mom • Happy Wife • Jesus Lover • Alaska • Vintage • Books &Tea”. You can find her crochet patterns on Ravelry and Etsy, and you can also connect with her on Facebook.
I love on Etsy where she shares:
“One of my heart warming childhood memories is of my Grandma Sylvia thread crocheting the most amazing room divider panels. They must have taken her what seemed like a million years to complete, but the results were stunning! She and Grandpa lived in an old fashioned schoolhouse-turned-private-home in the scenic Oregon countryside filled with many treasures and adventures! I’ll never forget exploring all throughout that house and playing hide and seek among her beautiful handmade quilts and thread crochet doilies and bedspreads. And we would push through the crocheted room divider panels every time we entered her living room from the entry area where they were eventually hanging. I never ceased to be impressed with those crochet panels and all the handiwork Grandma accomplished!”
Here are most of the photos she shared with us this week, although you’ll find a few more sprinkled throughout this post as well. I especially love the vintage flower potholder she found at a thrift shop and brought home!
Featured Instagrammer #2
And our second featured Instagrammer this week is Nesime Erciger (@nesimerciger). Her Instagram feed is filled with beautiful crochet work that’s photographed terrifically in terms of both light and detail. I especially love the many pieces where she has combined a neutral cream color with lots of bold colors to create contemporary clean pieces. Here is what she shared with us this week:

August Collages
My favorite thing about the end of each month is that everyone shares collage photos showing what they made and what their month was about. I adore these.

Memory Heart Day
@queen_babs declared September 5th #memoryheartday to honor a friend that she lost and allow all of us to give love and recognition in memory of people we’ve lost. The hearts shared didn’t have to be crochet but some were:

My Crochet on Instagram
This week I shared daily photos of some vintage Needlecraft magazines. I had forgotten that my dad sent me a bunch of these and I’d stashed them away without looking through them then I rediscovered them. I posted one and @suregal27 suggested that I post a photo daily until I’ve shown them all. I thought that was a great suggestion and have been doing exactly that! Some of these magazines are nearly 100 years old. They primarily have crochet and knitting patterns, with a few other types of projects and a few articles (mostly about the war effort in these early ones).
And of course I’m still playing around with lots of mandala making in various sizes to add my part to the Mandalas for Marinke project. I’m exploring making them in back loop only designs and also adding some macrame details with the ends.
A couple of things I participated in this week: sending my leaves to the #ncieleaf project and sharing a heart for #memoryheartday (both of which I learned about through @queen_babs):
And other things … a crochet skirt I found in a thrift shop, books I’m reviewing soon, my Darn Good Yarn monthly delivery (this time of reclaimed cotton yarn) … and my Mandalas for Marinke article in the current issue of Interweave Crochet (which I haven’t actually seen yet but reposted thanks to @causticwear!)
