I’m continuing on with my series of 25 lists of 25 things to inspire crocheters. Up on the list this week is “25 crochet hooks to try”. That’s good timing since I just looked at a bunch of hooks last week for my Amazon feature of the week. Including the ones from that list, here is my personal list of 25 different types of crochet hooks I’d eventually like to try:

1. Light-Up Crochet Hooks

2. Widget Products Crochet Lite Crochet Hooks

3. Susan Bates SmartGlo Crochet Hooks

(these don’t light up but are made from glow-in-the-dark plastic so I assume you get a similar effect)

4. Clover Takumi Getaway Soft Touch Crochet Hooks

I want to try ergonomic hooks at some point

5. Boye Interchangeable Head Crochet Hook Set

6. U-nitt Bamboo Crochet Hooks

7. Clover Reflections Larger-Size Crochet Hooks

Plastic crochet hooks in K,L,N size

8. Crochet Dude’s Steel Crochet Hook Set by Boye

(I haven’t tried any from Crochet Dude’s collection yet and I’d like to try to)

9. Addi Swing Hooks

(these look so fun!)

10. Surina Wooden Crochet Hooks

11. ChiaoGoo crochet hooks

12. DyakCraft Hummingbird Crochet Hooks

13.Hand Turned Crochet Hooks by Dewberry Ridge

14. Handmade Crochet Hooks by TwinBirch from Etsy

15. Handmade Wood Crochet Hooks by RParishWoodworks on Etsy

(what can I say, I like the handmade wooden designs!)

16.Red Heart Crystallite Acrylic Hooks

17. Balene Plastic Crochet Hooks by Boye

(so far I don’t like any plastic hooks I’ve tried but I’m willing to keep trying!)

18. Susan Bates Luxite Plastic Crochet Hooks

19. Susan Bates Bamboo and Aluminum Crochet Hooks

20. Glass Crochet Hooks by Michael & Sheila Ernst

(I would love to try glass crochet hooks!)

21. Lantern Moon Crochet Hooks in Rosewood

(also available in ebony but I love rosewood!)

22. Susan Bates Silvalume Circular Crochet Hooks

(not even sure quite what these are used for but they look fun!)

23. Double-ended hooks from Grizzly Mountain Arts

24. Purplelinda Tunisian hooks

25. Any set of vintage crochet hooks that I might find someday!

What other hooks would you add to my list? Do you have a favorite hook set?

Send me your email address and I will send you a lighted hook. Only used once and slightly unloved. ;-)

I would love to know where you can buy the glow-in-the-dark susan bates hooks(not the light up ones) I love crochet & anything glow in the dark.

  2. I have a gorgeous hand blown glass handled hook that my husband bought me on vacation several years ago. The head/shaft are smoothest wood (don’t know what kind) in size G and I LOVE it. It really spoils me for most other hooks because it is a longer handle.

@Keri – That is a terrific gift! I’m going to have to spoil myself with some good hooks sometime soon!

My favorite Tunisian hooks are the Stitchberry’s I got here on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001W3520W. I use my Denise hooks quite a bit for Tunisian when I have a larger project or am working in the round, but I prefer the bamboo actually. I find the Tunisian aluminum hooks very hard on the hands.

  4. Susan Bates Crystallite hooks sizes G through I break very easily, but the larger sizes are OK.

@Norah – Thanks for the feedback on that. Very good to know.

  9. Wolfenwood is another you may want to try, their’s is similar to rparishwoods, but they are ebay, I think I am curious about the glass crochet hooks!

  10. I have been crocheting with Addi hooks for two years now, and I can say that they are the best hooks!!! Once you try the ergonomic crochet hooks, you NEVER want to go back to the other simple one. I love my Addi hooks!!!!

  11. I have every size in the bamboo and I hate them. They snag the yarn.

  12. I have several hooks made of Corian, the countertop material. They are amazing.
