9 Crochet Mandala Patterns by Marinke

mandalas for marinke

I had planned to resume my Link Love posts this week but to be honest the only blogs I’ve been reading this week are related to Wink of A Creative Being. As you may have seen, I posted earlier this week about the shock and fear I experienced when learning about her suicide. Then I launched #MandalasForMarinke in the hopes that we can generate some positivity out of this tragedy, support each other in a creative way, honor her amazing work, raise awareness about depression and create an outlet for the many feelings that crafters who knew her online are experiencing.

So Link Love will resume next week but instead of link love this week I want to share the links to Wink’s crochet mandala patterns. She really was the first person that I saw bringing crochet mandalas into the limelight, getting people interested in them, creating innovative designs to share them. You can use any of these crochet patterns to create mandalas to donate to #MandalasForMarinke.

    • Thank you for your message. I am so sorry that you also struggle with depression and so glad that you were able to pull through and stay alive through times of wanting not to. Huge hugs. <3

  2. Hope someone can help. Ive been trying to buy the Summer Hearts Mandala pattern from Ravelry but it seems the website is not working properly. I really want to send in a mandala

  3. Im so sorry to hear this and I am going to send in a mandala. Did she also post a lot of her mandalas on top free crochet patterns i think that is what its called or lets get crafting I go on that site often and there a lot of mandalas on there. let me know and I will go on there and find one to do. Im new at this so i did not have the honor to know wink but I can totally relate to her. I would like to share why crochet saved my life. maybe you can give me some insight on how to get things started I would love to hear from you. shoot me a email when you get a chance so I can share my story with you.

    Thank so much!

  4. Thanks for this project. This is so very sad news about Wink. Maybe you can help me. I purchased Wink’ s mandala patterns at Ravelry and paid thru paypal. I got a message saying that the payment has to be accepted before the patterns are sent. I don’t know who would be able to do this. Can you HELP?

    Thank you again.

  5. Just wanted to let you know that none of the sites where Winks patterns were for sale are allowing purchases. I am going to try to leave a message on her blog and find out if they can be purchased anywhere now. I will post here when I find out something. I do know that her book of mandala patterns will be released in December on Amazon so they will be available at that time. I know that doesn’t help those who want them now, but at least it’s something to look forward to. ?

  6. I have been trying to purchase Wink’s I love Holland and her Picots and Petals patterns. They have the price in bold on Ravelry, but there is no buy button. Her Etsy shop is gone as is her Craftsy one. Is there somewhere else I can purchase these patterns?

      • I’m wondering the same thing. I just found Wink’s site last week and was devastated to learn that she is no longer with us. I’d love to make all of her mandalas as a tribute, but the price/buying info is no longer on ravelry. Let us know if you find out more information!

  7. For those who are also looking for Wink’s mandala patterns that were for sale, I found a workaround. You can download the Simply Crochet app to get the patterns in certain issues (the app is free, the subscription is not, but you can still use the app to buy individual issues without a subscription).

The issues are $6.99 US each, which isn’t cheap, but you get all of the other patterns in that particular issue of the magazine, too!

I hope there will be a way to buy Wink’s patterns on their own again. I would much rather have the money go to Wink’s family. For right now, though, I’m excited to start making these mandalas.

Here are the mandalas and the issues they appear in. Unfortunately, the I Love Holland Mandala wasn’t published in Simply Crochet, so for right now, I don’t think there is a way to get the pattern.

Lazy Shade of Winter Mandala – issue 14
    Picot Mandala – issue 7
Summer Hearts Mandala – issue 5

    Hope this helps some people!
