Crochet is a beautiful craft at every level, but right now we’re taking a look at fashion pieces from high-end designers that are made of crochet.
There are plenty of them out there, such as this Sicily handbag by Dolce and Gabbana.
This bag is made of calfskin and cotton with a crocheted raffia outer layer. The intricate white crochet with gold details and white leather make it look classy and fashionable, which makes sense coming from this brand.
Let’s take a closer look at Dolce and Gabbana and how this high-end designer uses crochet.
Dolce and Gabbana
Dolce and Gabbana is a luxury Italian fashion brand that was started in Milan, Italy by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. Their fashion stylings are inspired by the Italian film industry.
They are known for their over-the-top design aesthetic and are popular with celebrities for award shows for this reason.
Dolce and Gabbana Crochet
We can find plenty of crochet within the Dolce and Gabbana line:
Raffia Crochet Dolce Box Bag
This structured box bag with a gold padlock is embellished with 3-dimensional crochet flowers. This is a really cool way to use crochet because it makes use of crochet that is almost sculptural as an eye-catching detail.
Calfskin and Raffia Crochet Dolce Box Bag
I love this bag because it brings to mind crocheted afghans and granny square designs. Like the previous bag, this is a structured box that is embellished on the outside with crocheted flowers and a crocheted grid.
Crochet Bucket Hat
This crochet bucket hat is a great example of how Dolce and Gabbana don’t shy away from bold color and design choices.
This hat is available in fuschia or lime green, so this crocheted fashion item is guaranteed to garner some attention.
Crochet Raffia Devotion Cross-Body Bag
Here is another bag from Dolce and Gabbana that features crochet. This bag is made up of pretty simple crochet stitches and is decorated with a gold logo plate and a gold chain.
Sicily Raffia Top-Handle Bag
There are some Dolce and Gabbana crochet bags that come in more natural colors, such as this raffia version of their popular Sicily handbag.
DIY Dolce and Gabbana Crochet
Let’s face it, most of us aren’t sporting a Dolce and Gabbana budget. Luckily, there are some amazing tutorials that can help you recreate some of these styles.
This YouTube video gives an extremely in-depth explanation of how to make a dupe of the popular Miss Sicily mini crochet handbag.
She goes over not just how to crochet the stitches, but also how to assemble the purse so that it has structure and can close with a magnet just like the designer version.

@CrochetBlogger Very pretty!
@HuntrsWyf Thanks. It was a fun #crochet bag roundup to put together!
The pink, in any other color. I like the flowers/motifs.The green one it seriously scary! Especially when all the others are so cohesive.
@laurindar3 Yeah I definitely thought the green one was the odd one out.
@laurindar3 Scary can be fun :)
I’m loving the flower motif of the pink one. Yes the pink one. I am almost liking the granny squares and stripes one but the striped granny stitch front tips it over the edge for me, I think that part would be better done as matte black to accentuate the flap and sides.
@carolmckayau Ooh, that’s interesting. I think that as a fashion accessory, which is what this purse is obviously supposed to be, I agree with you on the matte black that would work great on the granny stripe purse. But just for pure eye candy to look at online I kind of like it the way it is. I like the pink but think it would look interesting with a different colored lining underneath it.
@CrochetBlogger The different lining I wouldn’t have thought of, excellent idea, makes me think of pretty petty coats with complimentary coloured crocheted skirt.
@carolmckayau Great comparison!
Love it will try to make one??
