Meet Crochet Lover Holly of Holly_Pips: Get Inspired

I love to see what other crafters around the world are working on, and Instagram makes it easy to follow lots of these talented people.

Holly of @holly_pips is one such crafter. She is a crochet lover living in Greenwich, London, where she spends her time creating crochet and other craft projects and being a mom to two children, Pippa and Milo.

Let’s take a look at some of the projects she has shared.

Amigurumi Mermaid

This adorable amigurumi mermaid is a pattern from the book Aquatic Amigurumi, and Holly explains that she made it as a Christmas gift. Any child would love to get this toy!

My favorite details are the raised star pattern on her tail and the way the locks of her hair curl this way and that.

Amigurumi Unicorns

Here are more cute amigurumi creations. These, too, were made as a Christmas gift- I kind of want to be on Holly’s list!

If you’re feeling inspired, the pattern for these unicorn dolls is available here. The pattern is designed by another crocheter from the UK, and she has quite a few patterns available if unicorns aren’t your style.

Filet Crochet Bunnies

This baby blanket is made using filet crochet, which is a technique that uses a combination of open mesh stitches and solid blocks of crochet to create images.

Patterns for this type of project usually look like a piece of grid paper with some of the squares filled in.

The result creates an image like the bunnies seen here. It’s typically done with a thin white cotton crochet thread, which makes it perfect for a baby blanket like this one.

Sunflower Granny Square Blanket

The sunburst granny squares that make up this blanket are styled to look like sunflowers set on a cream background.

Granny square afghans are a classic design, but I think this color combination makes it really unique and stylish enough to fit anywhere.

Rainbow Heart Blanket

How cute is this rainbow heart blanket? The brightly colored hearts popping through the white background is so perfectly eye-catching. I really like the coordinating border that is in progress here, too.

Tunisian Crochet Blanket

Holly shows us many photos of this Tunisian crochet blanket as she works on it and adds more and more squares over time.

Tunisian crochet uses longer hooks than traditional crochet and combines some techniques from knitting with some crochet techniques.

Holly used this blanket to use up scraps of yarn, and I love how it created such a colorful blanket with so much variation.

This particular blanket makes many appearances on Holly’s feed, and I love that she and her kids use and enjoy it even as she’s still adding squares.

Crochet Play Food

This crochet play food is so vibrant and absolutely looks good enough to eat. My favorite thing here is the way Holly has used different stitches to create the texture of different foods. The cauliflower and corn have especially striking details.

I also just want to scoop those little raspberries up into my hands! This is yet another handmade gift Holly made for someone in her life, and what a special and useful gift it is.

If you’ve loved looking at these creations as much as I have, hop over to Holly’s Instagram page and check out more projects she has shared.
