25 Patterns I Want to Crochet for Blog-a-Long (Crochet Bag Patterns)

Back in March I posted 25 lists of 25 things to inspire crocheters. Since then I’ve been posting my lists of 25 things. For example, last week I posted my 25 favorite crochet quotes. One of the items on the list is to collect 25 patterns of things that you want to crochet. I recently decided that I want to participate in Come Blog-a-long over on Ravelry (where we all do posts on the things that we want to work on crocheting/knitting and then we blog about the status of those projects weekly). I decided to combine my 25 patterns with my Blog-a-long participation.

I crochet daily and have several product lines that I’m working on but there’s a specific project that I need to start tackling and I think blog-along will help me with the accountability for that. This year I am going to give my Christmas presents in crocheted bags instead of in wrapping paper. I am terrible at wrapping presents so they never look good anyway. Plus that means each gift comes with the added gift of a handmade crochet bag that can be re-used. So if I’m going to do that then I need to start working on the bags.

Here are the 25 patterns I’m going to use for my crochet Christmas bags (although I may do variations on some of the patterns):

1. Little Acorn Bag

I’ll be working on getting these done this year but Blog-along actually goes until a year from now. If I’m successful with it and enjoying it I may make a new set of goals halfway through. Wish me luck! UPDATE: You can see the final post about what I did and didn’t make here.

I encourage you to make your own inspiring list of patterns you want to complete. Maybe you’ll finish them all and maybe you won’t but it will certainly jumpstart some crocheting action that you’ve been putting off!

    • Thanks @Sara! I’m looking forward to making some of these soon and the Starling is definitely one I’m excited about.

  1. I really like the acorn bag, Phazelia’s Laptop case, and Granny’s Valentine Bag. If I did the valentine bag I think I would do it in either blues or greens. And you have inspired be to make a list of the things I want to crochet! (Though I don’t plan on making mine to be 25 items long, yet!)

    • @ Carole – That’s a good question. I’m sure I’ll figure out the next big project as I’m working on this one!

  2. This is a great list of bags! I put a lot of my Christmas presents on my list – and I admit, I love the crocheted bag idea but I’m not sure I’ll have the time. I actually crochet small bags for gift cards though and hang them on the tree :)

    • @Cris – I love the idea of small crochet bags for gift cards. I’m hoping that by starting in July I’ll get my bags done. Last year I gave wine to lots of people and I did crochet up wine bags for it but they were done super quick and I wasn’t crazy proud of them. Good enough but I’d like to do better!

  3. Wow, that sounds like a fun Ravelry group! I’ll have to check it out!

I’ve been wanting to make Christmas bags for years and my mom has been collecting fabric for me to sew them up. The problem is that I always make many of the gifts anyway and never seem to have time to make the bags, too! :(

I love that acorn yarn holder bag. I look forward to seeing more about your projects for this challenge!

    • @Maya – Thanks! I really wanted to include photos of each of the bags in the post but I knew if I waited until I had time to do that then I would never get it up.
