I always think that it is fun to check out what is happening on the runways, seeing the fashion that draws the eye of the world. A lot of designer fashion isn’t practical but it sure is fun and sometimes there are examples of clothing on the runway that the everyday person could definitely wear. I think this Sonya Rykiel crochet dress is definitely wearable, fashionable and beautiful.
The design is from the Resort 2018 collections, a collection that is filled with fu nods to the 1970s elevated a bit with modern sensibility. I love the color blocking here and the implementation of one of my favorite techniques – multi-stranded crochet, to create a pattern within each color blocked section. I love the use of different stitches in each section. And I love the detail on those sleeves (or lack thereof) – such a flattering shape there.
I also love this amazing colorful fringe dress from the same collection. Perhaps not quite as wearable for the everyday person but so fun! I can’t tell if that’s knit or crochet in the center section but it looks great either way.
