It’s time for the weekly roundup of things people are sharing over on Instagram using the hashtags for this blog. Many, many people are working on crochet squares, especially classic granny squares and large granny square blankets. I suspect that after making a lot of different things for the holidays, everyone wants to go back to more meditative crochet! On the other hand, a lot of people are making adorable amigurumi, including teddy bears, and I’m guessing at least some of that is inspired by the upcoming Valentine’s holiday.
How This Works
In case you’re new to this, I check the hashtags #crochetsavedmylife and #crochetconcupiscence regularly (and now also #hooktoheal for anyone using my new book!) I share the highlights here including featured crochet IGers. You can see everything that people are sharing in this wonderful community by going to those tags on Instagram. It’s a great way to find crafters to follow!
Hook to Heal
Before we dig in any further, I wanted to give a shout out to the three folks who used the #hooktoheal tag this week:
@mammalanie shared some work including this, which is from one of the adventure exercises
@quiltwrapup started this project using the “random lines” crochet exercise
@pam_hooksandhills shared, “Ordered this just after Christmas, so excited that it’s here ?
@kvercillo I figure this will make you smile; your book says hello from a tiny village in New South Wales, Australia.” It did, indeed, make me really happy.
Featured Instagrammer #1: ABagFullOfCrochet
There are two featured Instagrammers this week. The first is the fabulous @abagfullofcrochet. This account belongs to Stephanie Davies, who was previously a featured Instagrammer, but that was with her personal (private) account, and I wanted to point out that she’s now sharing beautiful crochet from this account. This week she shared:
Journal atop crochet
Crochet heart nesting baskets
Featured Instagrammer #2: Plasie3
Our second, new featured Instagrammer is Marléne Scheepers-Fourie of @plasie3. She shares, “I luuuv beautiful yarn, that’s why I became an indie dyer.” And you can see that she uses her beautifully colored yarn to make beautiful crochet items. Learn more about her yarn at One of a Kind Yarns. Here’s what she shared in crochet this week:
