Content Warning – Infant loss
Ana of Woolyana on Instagram is a stay-at-home mom and crochet lover who shared her journey of grief and infant loss in her blog, Jacinta’s Joyful January.
While sharing about her grief, Ana found a community of crochet lovers and began sharing her work. She has made so many beautiful pieces, often using flowers and other motifs to create larger pieces that are stunning.
Although Woolyana’s Instagram page hasn’t been active since Feb 2022, we still wanted to highlight this creator’s stunning pieces and share some of her patterns with you here.
Meet Crochet Lover Ana of Woolyana
Ana Maria Owusu-Tyo makes me smile with her tagline on Instagram, which reads: “I crochet past my bedtime”. Don't we all?!
One of the last projects that Ana's Instagram page Woolyan shared was this stunning rainbow in celebration of Pride month. Each colorful stripe is made with crocheted flowers of varying sizes and sewn onto an off-white canvas. Breathtaking!
Another stunning flower creation, this time in the shape of a heart and with varying shades of pink and red. These are works of art and simply gorgeous.
One thing we love about woolyana's crochet journey is the variety of things she tries out. She shared this doily that she was working on, but never the finished product. The progress made so far is so beautiful and it is so cool to see how her projects progress.
Woolyana shares a lot about the different blankets she made for her children. They are each similar, while being uniquely different. With the classic circle middle, two of her blankets are hexagon shapes connected together while the third she shaped up into squares to be sewn together.
Another technique we see Woolyana use often is the Bavarian Stitch that creates a beautiful diamond looking pattern. Here we see a mostly completed cushion cover made with stunning colors.
We love how woolyana shares the test projects she did for other creators, like this beautiful mandala.
Woolyana shared her first "crochet bomb" that brought a positive message to her town. Crochet bombing is when creatives in the community create crochet pieces to place around a community area to spread and promote beauty and joy!
Woolyana shared the book that so many of her flower projects got their basic inspiration from. With 100 flower patterns, Ana worked her way through each pattern to learn new techniques and expand her crochet knowledge.
This gorgeous blanket creates stunning flowers with beautifully detailed stem and leaf designs interconnecting each square. Truly breathtaking.
Although she rarely makes clothing, woolyana shared this breathtaking Rustic Lace Square Shawl she made. Combining lace work and flowers, this piece is absolutely stunning.
These are stunning pieces of crocheted work! I just love the fine, detailed flowers in the middle of the squares. And so many other things. Fabulous work and colors.
Hi you have so many lovely crocheted things are you going to be doing a pattern for some of them
