The world of craft publishing is in an exciting time. There are many publishers, both small and large, releasing a variety of different books in various niches of crochet. I can’t even begin to count how many new crochet books are expected to be released in 2015. Some are from my favorite authors and but a lot of them are from new folks. Here are the 2015 crochet books I’m most excited to see when they are released this year.
Craft Heals
The book I’m most excited to see coming out this year is Lee Gant’s Love in Every Stitch: Stories of Knitting and Healing. Although its emphasis is knitting, there is at least one story about a “suicidal teenager who crochets through pregnancy”. When I did the research for Crochet Saved My Life
there were almost no books out there on this topic. I’m happy to see another one hitting the shelves.
4 More Favorites
I thought I’d start the list with my top five favorites, followed by some other crochet books that look great in various categories. The number one pick is the one shown above so here are the other top four:
Crochet Mandalas by Marinke Slump (who incidentally is one of the women who shared her story about crocheting to heal in my book Crochet Saved My Life). It’s co-authored with Anita Mundt.
Boho Crochet: 30 Hip and Happy Projects. I don’t know the author on this one but it’s published by Martingale, which published several books I’ve reviewed recently including Bathtime Buddies crochet and Cozy Toes for Baby.
Classic Crochet the Modern Way: Over 35 Fresh Designs Using Traditional Techniques: Placemats, Potholders, Bags, Scarves, Mitts and More by Tove Fevang, who is the author of Totally Simple Crochet: Over 30 Easy Projects for the Home and to Wear
Cats in Hats: 30 Knit and Crochet Hat Patterns for Your Kitty by Sara Thomas. How could I resist?
Crochet Inspired by Literature
This year we are going to see several books featuring crochet designs inspired by fairy tales, poetry and other writing, starting with Poetic Crochet: 20 Shawls Inspired by Classic Poems by Sara Kay Hartmann, published by Interweave Press.
Crochet Ever After: 18 Crochet Projects Inspired by Classic Fairy Tales by Brenda K.B. Anderson who had a pattern in It Girl Crochet, which was released last year.
Once Upon a Time . . . in Crochet: 30 Amigurumi Characters from Your Favorite Fairytales by Lynne Rowe, available in both UK and US versions
Crochet and Amigurumi Animal Books
If you enjoy making amigurumi crochet animals then these are the books to pre-order this year:
My Crochet Animals: Crochet 12 Furry Animal Friends Plus 35 Stylish Clothes and Accessories by Isabelle Kessedjian, who is also the author of My Crochet Doll
Sparkling Crochet: Make Amigurumi Animals with Yarn That Glitters by Mitsuki Hoshi who had a book of amigurumi alphabet patterns come out last year
Crocheted Sea Creatures: A Collection of Marine Mates to Make by Vanessa Mooncie
Easy Toys to Crochet: Dolls, Animals and Gifts for Children by Claire Garland
The above image is for Kerry Lord’s book Edward’s Menagerie, which was published last year. It’s a great book and I’m happy to say that she’s coming out with a new book this year: Edward’s Menagerie – Birds: Over 40 Soft Toy Patterns to Crochet Your Own Feathered Friends.
Other Crochet for Kids
You might make crochet toys and dolls for children. Or you might make other things for them. Here are some more of the upcoming books featuring crochet patterns for babies and children.

Super Cute Crochet for Little Feet: 30 Stylish Shoes, Booties and Sandals to Crochet for Babies by Vita Apala

Modular Crochet: The Revolutionary Method for Creating Custom-Designed Pullovers.
This book by Judith Copeland was originally published in 1978. This new version is updated with diagrams and photos. I love that it’s made its way back around again.
