About This Award

Learn more about what these awards are here. This specific award is for the best mixed media crochet business. I love when there are businesses that combine different crafts with crochet to create something unique. It adds a different element to our community and inspires us all to stretch our ideas of the craft a bit.

About The Winner

The winner of this award is eWoodStory. The blog associated with it as actually Stitch Story, which is the crochet blog of designer Shelby Allaho. eWoodStory is the new business that she’s collaborated on with her woodworker husband. There’s a Flickr pool for eWoodStory images.

ewoodstory crochet frame

eWoodStory sells jewelry frames as well as crochet jewelry kits so that you can make your own beautiful statement jewelry with wood/ fiber. The basic frame is a small rectangular frame with pre-drilled holes that allow you to stitch your yarn project to the wood but there are other options as well and new designs being developed all of the time. The kits are more intricate and include all of the supplies that you need to crochet a jewelry work of art. I reviewed one of their frames earlier this year.

Why The Winner Won

crochet wood jewelry kits

Here are some of the reasons that I selected this blogger for this crochet award:

  • The kits are really simple so they can be used even by a beginner crocheter to create a really unique item.
  • They are designed to be very open-ended so that the crafter can have full creative expression when working with eWoodStory products.
  • The kits include exotic woods and high quality yarns.
  • I have a soft spot in my heart for wood-based projects since my dad is a woodworker.

This Winner Previously Won

In previous years I’ve awarded this blogger:

Other Categories I Could Have Chosen

Each person is only awarded one award each year (and likewise, each award only goes to one person with a few exceptions) but of course each amazing blogger often does many things well. Some of the other categories that I easily could have given this blogger an award for include:

  • Best Husband-And-Wife Team
  • Best Crochet Jewelry
  • Best Crochet Kits
