About This Award
Learn more about what these awards are here. This specific award is for the best crochet tutorials. Many people learn how to crochet through basic tutorials and many more people expand their existing crochet skills with advanced tutorials. Crocheters who offers strong tutorials that are easy to follow and rich in variety are providing a huge resource to the online crochet community.
About The Winner
The winner of this award is Dedri of Look At What I Made. I learned about her this year after she published her first crochet book, Amamani Puzzle Balls, which was a big hit across many of the crochet blogs.
She shares: “My name is Dedri and I am passionate about (and obsessed with) crochet and crochet pattern designing. I also craft, bake, sew and rant.”
“I have been making stuff since I can remember. I have no memories without being able to sew – my mother had an old hand-crank Singer that I had exclusive user rights to. So I sewed, and sewed…and went through my own finger a time or two as well, but what can you expect from a little girl?! I have recently taken up cake-baking and crocheting (again) – very different now from the granny-squares my ouma taught me to make. And with the arrival of my boys – and the distinct absence of a little girl – I have turned my hand to making my projects more boy-friendly. Out with the pink booties and little pinafores and in with crochet cars and chunky playmats. Half the fun of making something, for me, lies in someone appreciating the end product.”

Why The Winner Won
Here are some of the reasons that I selected this blogger for this crochet award:
- She offers a very organized guide to the crochet tutorials on her site including level of difficulty. There is variety in the the tutorials that she creates and there are some that are very unique.
- Her tutorials have beautiful, large format, detailed photos that show the finished items as well as the steps involved.
- Her tutorial information is clear, thorough and easy to understand with additional tips where they might be needed.
Other Categories I Could Have Chosen
Each person is only awarded one award each year (and likewise, each award only goes to one person with a few exceptions) but of course each amazing blogger often does many things well. Some of the other categories that I easily could have given this blogger an award for include:
- Best Free Crochet Patterns
- Best Crochet Book Blog Tour
- Best Crochet Colorwork
