link love

Link love is my way of giving back to the crochet community by highlighting the great work out there each week from crochet bloggers, designers, artists and more. Here are this week’s links …

Do you enjoy link love? It takes a lot of hard work. Donations appreciated to keep it going. Every bit helps.

Crochet Quote

“There’s something so gratifying about taking strings and pieces and making them whole,” she said. “There’s something primitive and innate about that. The fragments of the mind also come together in that process. It’s a parallel process between the mind and the hands.” – Sacramento Bee article on the health benefits of knitting and crochet.

crochet hair art

“To Imhathai Suwatthanasilp, hair is a symbol of identity, something that’s powerful in its physicality yet also incredibly personal. For nearly a decade, she has been crocheting strands of human hair – that of others’ as well as her own – into wondrous mixed media art that relate to significant episodes in her life.” source

Crochet News

yarn

Crochet keeps giving. I loved this news story of a woman who left behind 23 cases of yarn when she died so her son donated it to a senior crochet group that crochets for charity. So many people helped by this yarn!

crochet pink scarf

World’s Longest Pink Scarf on display for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. “It takes six people more than four days to complete the display. “The scarf represents 35 states and three countries as it grows to over 8600 ft.,” she said. “Both a tribute to breast cancer awareness and a visual display of America’s traditional handcrafts, the scarf is made up of knitted and crocheted pieces made by woman and men.”
