crochet health
Over the summer I conducted a crochet health survey (which is now closed) to learn more about how people are benefitting from this craft. I received more than 10,000 responses, which gives me so much information to analyze and work with in order for all of us to better understand the ways in which the craft of crochet is helping people. I was so touched by the information shared with me even in the online survey. Thank you again to everyone who chose to participate.

Crochet Health Interviews

I interview people about how crochet has helped them and I share those stories through magazine articles, blog posts and books. Some of the people who responded to that survey included their email addresses because they may potentially be interested in sharing their crochet health stories. I have created a newsletter list specifically for those people to provide a simple way for me to facilitate providing information about how to share stories with me. Note that this is different from my regular newsletter. This one is just for people who want to share health stories. If you think that you might be interested in sharing how crochet has helped you, please sign up for this new newsletter here.

About Sharing Stories

Some stuff to know that I shared in the first newsletter to this group:
“Please understand that there were approximately 3000 people who indicated a possible interest in sharing a story. It’s going to take time for me to work with each of you, and I want to give each of you the attention that you deserve.I am truly, deeply interested in each of your individual stories. I believe wholeheartedly that each story is unique, special and important. I believe that when we share our individual stories, we better the world. It is my goal as a writer to help provide the language, support, inquiry and platform for sharing your stories, particularly as they relate to the benefits of crochet and crafting.

This email newsletter offers me a way to get the initial information-sharing out of the way in bulk so that I don’t have to contact 3000 people individually. If you choose to remain on this email list, here’s what you can expect:

    • Being on the newsletter does not commit you to anything at all! It’s just a way for you to get more information about story-sharing.
    • I will send out a group email shortly with all of the details about what it means to share your story with me. I will answer a lot of anticipated questions like where it might be published, what exactly you’re giving permission to share, how to remain anonymous if you like, etc. I am here to fully support you sharing your story only in the way that you want to so please don’t worry that you’re getting into something that you can’t handle. The next email will have a detailed FAQ and we can go from there. If you don’t like what you see, you can unsubscribe from this list at that time or contact me with questions/concerns then.
    • If you choose to stay on the email address after that, you will then receive the initial interview questions. The first set of questions will be the same for everyone. You can answer them at your own pace (as I will also have to respond at my own pace!)
    • You will not get random emails about other things from this list. And your email address will not be shared with anyone or put on any other lists.

I want to emphasize that I think every single story is important. Many people indicated in their surveys that they felt like their story or their health wasn’t “bad enough” or “unique enough” to be shared. Hooey. Every individual story matters. There is nothing too “mundane” or too “shocking”. If you choose to share your story with me, I will treat it gently and will work to really make sure that the special qualities of your own experience shine through in a way that will help someone else in the world. I really do hope that you will stay signed up on this newsletter and continue considering sharing your story.”

Get On The Newsletter; Share Your Story

I am putting the final touches on my next book this fall and will then begin the in-depth analysis of all of the survey results so you can look forward to that in the future as well.
