High-Fashion Crochet by Helen Rodel: Tradition With an Edge

I love the crochet work done by Brazilian designer Helen Rodel.

This designer’s label puts incredible crochet and knitwear on the runway, featuring stunning colors and textures. The designs are edgy but still totally wearable.

Helen Rodel Designs and Philosophy

According to Not Just A Label, the Helen Rodel label seeks to bring the handmade techniques of the past into the future, with a focus on deep research and socially and environmentally sustainable products.

Helen Rodel only presents one collection a year because these garments are carefully handmade and designed to be long-lasting, valuable, and cherished.

Helen Rodel’s Designs

I recently noticed that her website had been updated since the last time I checked it, and there is a lot more there to see. Enjoy the crochet fashion eye candy!

The texture of this sweater is so eye-catching and snuggly-looking! The color is also perfectly on-trend and vibrant. I could absolutely see people wearing this sweater for day-to-day wear.

If you like the look of this shirt and want to try your hand at making something similar to avoid the high fashion price tag, try this pattern from Etsy.

How about the bobble stitches and colorful stripes on this crop top? I especially love the contrast in the pink color and extra frilly stitches of the sleeves.

Bobble stitches are a staple in Helen Rodel’s designs, and this cardigan is a beautiful example. In contrast to the other shirts we’ve looked at from this designer, this sweater is a neutral color. In this photo, it makes a great swim cover-up, but it would also look good as a jacket or light sweater.

Looking to make your own? While I haven’t seen many patterns that look like this unique piece, tons of crochet cover-ups and cardigan patterns are available.
