For today’s 2013 Awesome Crochet Blogger Awards I’d like to give an award for the best crochet charity work of the year. After all, that seems appropriate to do for Christmas Day! This year’s crochet award winner is Anastacia Knits.

About this Awesome Crochet Blog Award

Charity crochet is a really important part of our craft. People may craft items for charity themselves, craft items as a fundraiser for charity or otherwise help to crochet things for people in need. This is a way of giving back to others. It’s a generous thing to do with our time and materials. It helps bring attention to causes that are important to us, warms the hearts of recipients and also brings positive attention to our craft. That’s certainly worth recognizing.

Why the Winning Blog Won

Anastacia Knits does an annual charity crochet fundraiser that she came up with herself and I really love that. Each year she designs and creates a crochet afghan that she raffles off and donates the money to Alzheimer’s Awareness. Her grandmother passed away from early onset Alzheimer’s and then her uncle was diagnosed with the condition so this is a cause that is important to her. Crochet has been shown to help people with Alzheimer’s and may help with Alzheimer’s prevention but what Anastacia does brings tangible financial help to the search for a cure.

This Blog Previously Won …

I have been following this blog for a long time so it’s not surprising that it’s won one of my crochet blog awards in the past. It was the winner of the 2011 Awesome Crochet Blog Award for Best Crochet Finds.

Also About this Crochet Blog

I love Anastacia’s work with the Alzheimer’s charity crochet that she does but there’s more to like here on this blog as well. Anastacia is a knit and crochet pattern designer who shares her work on her blog including some free crochet patterns. It’s always great to see what she’s making and what she’s up to. She’s also an avid reader and shares her book love on her blog.

Special Thanks to the Blogger

Although it didn’t affect my choice of award winner in any way I just wanted to say special thanks again to the blogger for her ongoing support of my blog and my work. She has mentioned me multiple times on her blog and she has done guest posts, interviews and giveaways on Crochet Concupiscence.
