As you may know, I’m headed to start grad school in a few weeks, something I am really excited about. I can’t wait to see how I change and row as a person and as a writer and I hope that I’ll be able to use the time in school to do some more in-depth research into the health benefits of crochet and the ways in which crafting can be used as a healing tool.

The one thing I’m not so excited about is the $60000 bill that comes along with grad school! I’m doing everything that I can to apply for scholarships. And there’s one that I’m going for that you can actually easily help me with while at the same time supporting the spread of crochet information. If you have just a few minutes, I’d love to tell you more!

About Sussle

The scholarship that I’m talking about is a $1000 scholarship through Sussle. Sussle is an online site that is working to aggregate information around a variety of different topics. Basically you can find a topic that you’re interested in and then add photos, videos, text, etc. about it to help create the full page for that topic. The idea is that we can all find the best of the best in the topics that interest us. So I’ve contributed to lots of topics but of course crochet is the main one and I’ve added various photos, videos, links and posts in the crochet topic area so that when people visit Sussle they learn more about crochet.

About the Scholarship

The way that the scholarship works is that the people with the best content by the end of this month will do interviews with the folks at Sussle and they’ll pick a winner. So in order to be considered, I have to have the best content and the way that they determine that is through votes. It’s just like hitting the “like” button on Facebook or the “favorites” on Twitter or anything like that except that you’re doing it on Sussle. The top ten people with the most votes will be the ones that go on to the next round but in order to get into that round, I need those votes.

How You Can Help

I really want to use my education to help the crochet community through writing. And I really feel like the crochet content I’m contributing to Sussle is of value to that community. If you agree and want to support me, all you need to do is sign into Sussle (it’s easy, you just log in with your Facebook; there’s no fees or lengthy sign-up process or anything) and then just give the “vote up” to my various posts. The easiest way to find them is to go through the crochet channel; not all of the posts there are mine but you’ll see that a lot of them are and you can just hit those likes and help me get those votes. It’d be great if you an also add comments on the posts as to why you like them (and hopefully you’ll actually really like them!) but if you just give the vote up that’s okay. A few votes from everyone with a crochet interest would really help me out and help the topic over there as well.

And Actually You Might Get Something Too

If you get really into using Sussle then you might want to try for the $50 weekly prize they give out to top raters on the site. Liking my stuff will help you get started!

So here’s Sussle. And here’s the crochet page specifically. And votes need to be in by July 31st. Thanks a million to anyone who can help!

I tired voting for some before but I am not on Facebook. I hope your Facebook friends can help. i think it’s unfortunate that some things are sign in by Facebook only. Sorry.

icrochetinoh I know a lot of people who don’t like or use Facebook but they do setup a profile so that they can login to things like this. Facebook and Twitter login seem to be so common now on so many different sites!
