Artist Jerry Bleem, who I recently named in my article on 20 Awesome Male Crocheters, has an exhibition coming up soon. The piece above will be featured in that exhibition. The flowers you see here are all crocheted from plastic bags.

The exhibit will be at Packer Schopf Gallery in Chicago, starting November 2, 2012 and running through December 29th. Check it out if you’re in the Chicago area this fall! The gallery has online galleries of some of his other work, such as his Allegiance series, which is crocheted with American flags.

Incidentally, Packer Schopf Gallery has also shown work by another crochet artist I’ve highlighted here before, Laurel Roth.

Oh wow! This is SO amazing! We’re using plastic bags to run a pilot workshop tomorrow, teaching needy women in the community, here in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to recycle them. They will be crocheting them and selling them! So excited to be a part of something like this! And crochet designers and artists like Jerry Bleem are such an inspiration for us! dianarayyan
