Crochet artist Olek always makes a statement with her work – not just in the size and scale but also in the subject matter. She has started a community public art project called Love Across the USA “with the goal of celebrating positive women’s voices throughout U.S. history.” There will be installations in all 5o states.
Crochet artist Olek has worked on a number of extreme projects as well as some great collaborations. This work is both of those things.
The very first crochet artist that I profiled on this blog back in 2011 was Olek. The world was starting to get to know her from her yarnbombing. Many of the artists that I wrote about that year have kind of faded away but Olek’s work in crochet art just keeps getting stronger and stronger. It’s been awhile since this blog explored it so I thought I’d showcase some of her newer stuff here today.

Crochet artist Olek currently has an exhibit at London’s StolenSpace Gallery that’s a collaboration with artist Miss Van, where each is paying homage to the other artist in their work.
Crochet artist Olek has a show right now at Delimbo Gallery. Not only am I loving looking at the beautiful new incarnations of her work but I’m also super fascinated by an article on the gallery’s site that describes her works in new terms.
