É terça-feira, o que significa que é hora de uma resenha do livro de crochê. Eu decidi combinar a revisão com a minha 31 Dias de crochê Brindes since I’ve got a copy of the book that I’m ready to de-stash. Read below for the review and info on how to enter today’s giveaway.
Hooked Para a Vida: Aventuras de um Zealot Crochet
Resenha do livro de crochê de hoje é de Hooked for Life: Aventuras de um Zealot Crochet by Mary Beth Temple. She has written more than forty short essays on crochet topics that are collected in this book. It’s a book that’s got a sense of humor. It certainly had me smiling along knowingly with some of the points that she made, like when she talks about the “finishing fake-out” of thinking that you’re done but you’re not done because you’ve got to block, stitch together and weave in ends.
Although there’s humor in the book, the essays have a lot more to offer than just some silly thoughts on crochet. There is a lot of crochet history and information packed in these pages from references to Victorian era crochet to tips for getting the right gauge. It’s not designed to be an instructional book (it’s more of a leisure reading book) but it’s got a lot of info in it anyway.
This crochet book also has a few crochet patterns added in to enhance its appeal. Keep it simple with the pattern for decorative wristlets or get a little crazy and make the Goth Princess Toilet Paper Roll Doll. This essay book is unlike any other crochet book I’ve seen and gets props for that alone.
Today’s giveaway winner will get a like-new copy of this fun book.
