Hooked for Life Crochet Book Review and Giveaway

giveaway 300x110 Hooked for Life Crochet Book Review and Giveaway

It’s Tuesday, which means that it’s time for a crochet book review. I decided to combine the review with my 31 Dias de Crochet brindes since I’ve got a copy of the book that I’m ready to de-stash. Read below for the review and info on how to enter today’s giveaway.

Fisgado para a vida: Adventures of a Crochet Zealot

Today’s crochet book review is of Hooked for Life: Adventures of a Crochet Zealot Hooked for Life Crochet Book Review and Giveaway by Mary Beth Temple. She has written more than forty short essays on crochet topics that are collected in this book. It’s a book that’s got a sense of humor. It certainly had me smiling along knowingly with some of the points that she made, like when she talks about thefinishing fake-outof thinking that you’re done but you’re not done because you’ve got to block, stitch together and weave in ends.

Although there’s humor in the book, the essays have a lot more to offer than just some silly thoughts on crochet. There is a lot of crochet history and information packed in these pages from references to Victorian era crochet to tips for getting the right gauge. It’s not designed to be an instructional book (it’s more of a leisure reading book) but it’s got a lot of info in it anyway.

This crochet book also has a few crochet patterns added in to enhance its appeal. Keep it simple with the pattern for decorative wristlets or get a little crazy and make the Goth Princess Toilet Paper Roll Doll. This essay book is unlike any other crochet book I’ve seen and gets props for that alone.

Today’s giveaway winner will get a like-new copy of this fun book.
