Acho que vejo minha contribuição preto e branco do lado esquerdo há.
Algum tempo atrás eu malha um plarn peito por um projeto chamado Something in the Water. Embora eu mencionei o projeto aqui e ali, Eu nunca cheguei a mostrar o meu trabalho final aqui no blog.
She took all of the contributions and then crocheted them together to make a “reef” of the breasts that is visually interesting while raising awareness about this green issue.
Latest Project News
The latest update that I received about the project was that the reef was on display in October at Aashe, que é “an international sustainability in higher education conference”. Legal. This annual conference included art for the first time this year and Something in the Water was one of the two pieces that were included. Wendy Osher was there showing people how to crochet with plarn and raising awareness about the project.
Artes Magazine Article
The project has also recently been featured in Artes Magazine in an article entitled Artists and Environmental Change: The Power of Contemporary Art. It explains:
“This collaborative eco-project connected women from around the globe by using plastic bags to crochet breast-like shapes. Osher joined each component to fabricate a sizable, atraente, colorful and organic shape intended to call attention to toxins seeping into international waters. … Whereas this is an artwork in an exhibition, it is concurrently a public advocacy project intended to raise social awareness about the importance of rectifying water contamination. Jointly, the women point out how plastic bags are linked to poison that leaks into one’s bloodstream and directly affects women’s breast milk and the future of generations to come.”
The Crochet Breast I Made
I thought that this was a fun project that would be great to contribute to for two reasons. Primeiro, I think it’s a good cause and I wanted to be a part of it. Segundo, I’d never worked with plarn before and it was on my “para tentar” list so I figured that this was a good opportunity. There were no guidelines about how to crochet the breast, so I waited a little bit into the project to see what others were doing and then set to work. What I learned was that I don’t really enjoy working with plarn even though I think it’s great that people are doing it. It’s a lot tougher than working with yarn! Still it was a good experience and I’m so glad that I was able to contribute to the project while learning something new.
