2012 in Crochet: Crochet Fashion

All this week we’re looking back at the crochet posts from this blog in 2012. It was an inspiring year. In this roundup I’ll share the 2012 posts this blog featured related to crochet fashion including designer crochet.

January

February

My most popular post in February was my overview of crochet in the Dolce and Gabbana designer clothing line. People were especially intrigued by their granny square crochet handbag that looks very DIY but is priced at nearly $3000.

In addition to the main Dolce and Gabbana post, I did two other posts about them, first asking what people would charge if they made the expensive crochet bag themselves and sold it and then doing a roundup of other D&G crochet bags.

The other crochet fashion posts from February were:

March

For the designer crochet project I explored crochet in the lines of:

And of course there was the March roundup of celebrity and designer crochet which had some pieces I loved.

And finally I made a fun little tool that allows you to mic and match designer crochet items.

April

I did the monthly celebrity crochet roundup, of course, and I looked at the crochet items in the lines of several famous fashion designers:

And I discovered the beautiful summer and winter crochet fashions of Ambika Boutique.

I expanded on my 365 Ways to Wear Crochet project with some style posts showing different ways to style the same outfit with different crochet accessories (starting with styling for my yellow halter dress).

May

I did the monthly celebrity crochet roundup, of course. I shared a Louis Vuitton crochet bodysuit I was loving. And I looked at the crochet items in the lines of several famous fashion designers:

Jean Paul Gaultier

Hussein Chalayan

Givenchy

Issey Miyake

Sandra Backlund

Manie One

I also shared that Arielle de Pinto is now making crochet shoes although I didn’t like them as much as the red crochet heels I saw.

June

I did the monthly celebrity crochet roundup, of course. And I went to the Gaultier exhibit here so I shared photos of Gaultier crochet.

I looked at the crochet items in the lines of several famous fashion designers:

Dolce and Gabbana launched a kids line

Full-figure Designer Ashley Nell Tipton launched a new line that incorporates a few crochet details here and there

Michael Kors revealed that he used to crochet
