In January I shared the fashion designers who had already put Haak op de baan voor 2017, but the main fashion week shows hadn’t happened, nog. Now they have so it’s time for the update! I always love seeing what designers are doing on the runway that involves handcrafted fashion. Follow all of the links to Vogue to look at the entire beautiful shows and so much more lovely fashion!

Alejandra Alonso Rojas

Vogue reports that at the Alejandra Alonso Rojas her mother was in attendance and was crocheting the whole time. Her clothing is based on memories of the women in her family.

Wow, look at the amazing crochet overlay details on this dress by Alena Akhmadullina:

Au Jour Le Jour

Au Jour Le Jour has a whimsical collection that incorporates crochet flowers on a couple of the pieces. There is also one sweater that has felted images bordered in crochet.

Prada

Prada got attention for what many sites calledcrochet brasbut they really look like chunky tops inspired by crochet swimwear. There were also cowls worn with many of these pieces although they looked to be knit. And to be honest, it’s hard to tell whether the tops are knit or crochet.

Marni

Sometimes it’s hard to tell if an item from a fashion show is actually hand crocheted. Vogue suggests that the square-based designs from Marni, like the dress shown here, is indeed crochet.

Beroemdheden in haak

Several celebrities were spotted in crochet at Fashion Week events. Alexa Chung wore a pretty full length crochet dress. En Kendall Jenner wore this oversized hoodie that is reportedly Burberry Knitwear:

Knitwear

There is a lot of beautiful non-crochet knitwear throughout the Fall 2017 collectie. Usually I don’t share knits but I had to share this oversize knit dress from Undercover:

  1. I feel so sorry for these models:

    1. None of them look proud, happy or aspiring of the works of art they are wearing/displaying despite the quality and skills involved.
    2. All haveresting b***ch face”.
    3. Brings to mind the lyrics from a Wicked song:

    Loathing! Unadulterated loathing!
    (Galinda, spoken) For your face,
    (Elphaba, spoken) Your voice,
    (Galinda) Your clothing!
(Both) Let’s just say- I loathe it all!”

The rewards and enthusiasm I get from the craft of crochet, its many designers and bloggers on the inter webs are not reflected in these shows.

Know which ones I prefer and will spend my time and money on!

Interesting perspective. Re: ‘resting bitch face”, although I know what it’s meant to mean, I do think there’s an interesting argument for not using the term: http://www.hercampus.com/school/american/ill-smile-when-i-want-why-resting-bitch-face-sexist . Great point about the fashion world though and the lack of joy shown on the serious faces at many runway events. Fashion and craft should definitely be joyful!!
