Stitch Mountain is a cool new collaboration between Red Heart, Jimmy bonen wol en de VS. Ski en Snowboard Association (USSA) that helps bring awareness to knitting and crochet among the ski and snowboard industry.
Jimmy bonen wol
I have been paying a lot of attention to Jimmy Beans Wool this past year because I think they do some amazing things on the business end of the yarn industry. One of my favorite things is their Bonen voor hersenen beurs, a college scholarship for knitting and crocheting students. Awesome. I’ve also been impressed with co-owner Laura Zander who has gained attention this year as a leading business person, showing that crafty entrepreneurial women can be smart and hot and cool.
So the fact that Jimmy Beans is doing cool things doesn’t surprise me. They’ve recently signed a partnership with USSA that allows them to be the very first ever official yarn supplier for the organization which is “the national governing body of Olympic skiing, snowboarding and freeskiing”. (Bron) Cool. This brings yarn, crochet and knitting awareness to a sector of people (skiiers) that may or may not already be familiar with the crafts.
Red Heart and Stitch Mountain
Jimmy Beans then teamed up with Red Heart to create Stitch Mountain. I haven’t been able to locate a lot of specific information about what this is but the press release from Jimmy Beans Wool says that it is “a marketing and promotional campaign that encourages people to be creative on and off the slopes.” It involves Red Heart yarn so I’m assuming it’s got some action going on to get people stitching at the skiing events.
Further research turned up a page at Jimmy Beans promising more info soon and linking to a page for Stitch Mountain on Facebook. The page already has some free patterns and kits for both crocheters and knitters (like the crocheted snowboarder throw in red, wit en blauw) and shows off some of the yarns that are being used which include Red Heart Boutique Treasure Yarn and Stitch Nation Alpaca Love Yarn. Yummy choices!
Visit the Yarn Tents
I think that what Red Heart and Jimmy Beans Wool are doing here is kind of cool so I’d encourage you to stop by their yarn tents if you happen to be visiting the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix events this year at Canyons Resort in Park City, UT and Mammoth Mountain, CA
