Beverly Lewis may be blind but she doesn’t let that stop her from doing what she wants to do. Bij voorbeeld, when she wanted to learn how to crochet, she simply approached someone at her local senior center and asked for help. A volunteer named Laura Early agreed to help.

Early held Lewishands while teaching her the basic stitches of crochet. Lewis is the first to admit that it took her a little while to catch on but now she’s got the hang of it and she is crocheting like crazy.

Currently she is working on a present (shown in the photo above) for her sister. She has fifteen siblings in total and we all know that our family members are the first to get our crochet presents! Actually, hoewel, the very first person to receive a crocheted present from the blind woman was her paster for whom she made a queen-sized blanket. It took her a year to do it but she is (rightfully) proud of her work.

Although Lewis is currently crocheting for one of her many siblings she would also like to haken voor het goede doel. She is particularly interested in making blankets and scarves to donate to the homeless shelter that is affiliated with her church. What an inspiring woman!

Did you know that there’s also a woman who crochets even though she doesn’t have any fingers?!
