5 Consigli fondamentali per il confezionamento di un progetto di filato per viaggi aerei

I recently had the wonderful opportunity to write a guest post over on the Jordana Paige blog where I shared all of the information that I could think of for packing a yarn project for airplane travel. I thought I’d share five of the basic tips here:

  1. Double-check the latest TSA guidelines. It’s almost never a problem to take crochet tools on a plane, especially if you use wooden/plastic hooks, but you need to know the latest safety guidelines if you want to take any knitting needles, scissors and other related notions.
  2. Pick a project with only one or two colors. You don’t want to have to take six skeins of yarn out in your tiny little plane seat to work on a single motif!
  3. Pack your yarn project in a smaller bag that fits in your carry-on. That way you can easily pull it out and stick it under the seat in front of you. This is especially good if your large carry-on is at risk of being one of the bags that they tag and stick underneath the plane!
  4. Mid-sized projects are most convenient. A small project might be done before the plane ride is. A large project can get cumbersome as it grows on your lap.
  5. Consider choosing a washable yarn. It is not entirely impossible that you or the person in the seat next to you will spill a drink or get nauseous because of turbulence. A plane may not be the best place for your super-care-always-handwash favorite luxury yarns!
