Happy Birthday to Me! Vestito all'uncinetto

Today is my birthday. I made myself a present:

This is only the second crochet dress I’ve ever made so I’m super proud of it. It is also the first one that I designed myself without a pattern. I did use a portion of a pattern to figure out how to make the halter top but I adapted it and the rest of the shaping I figured out for myself. I used yarn that I got in Argentina last year (in the Buenos Aires yarn district – go if you can!)

There are things I’ll do differently on the next design including making the dress longer (I ran out of yarn to be honest) and making the increases on the skirt more gradual than they are on this one but overall I really love the dress and think it’s a terrific birthday present to myself.
