Today’s Awesome Crochet Blog Award is for the best crochet hats of the year. Like the award earlier this month for the best crochet purses, I didn’t specifically set out to create an award for crochet hats but this is something that the blogger/ crafter does so well that it deserved a category.

Jenn is a graphic designer, blogger and Etsy boutique owner who has branded herself well by saying: “I’m a knit- and crochet-wear designer specializing in customized, simple accessories that look fabulous on everyone in any color”. She makes a variety of different crocheted accessories using her own patterns and patterns from others but she is particularly known for her crochet hats; (her Etsy shop is called JennyHats).

There are a lot of crochet hats that I like. (See my roundup of 100 unique crochet hats to get an idea!) But Jenn gets this award because:
- She has a signature style and yet she doesn’t make the same crochet hat over and over again. When you focus on a specific product, like hats, that you get known for it can be really tough to keep producing new versions that arein line with your tastes and style and yet don’t all just look the same as the ones that came before. Jenn succeeds in this with her hats.
- She offers a mixture of free and paid crochet hat patterns as well as her own crocheted hats for sale. I appreciate this variety that meets the needs of a lot of blog visitors!
- I enjoy the posts that supplement her crochet hat posts. She shares a lot of the hats and headbands that she makes and their patterns and I love that but it’s nice that I also enjoy her other posts. When she makes something else, it feels like a little surprise and yet is still consistent with her crochet style. She has shared personal stories, the experience of being in a craft business and other tidbits as well. It’s a joy to read.
