When I did my first post on the crochet playgrounds by Toshiko Horiuchi-MacAdam there wasn’t much information about her work available online. It took me a lot of research to find out what I shared in that post. Depuis lors, cependant, the topic has blown up and there have been tons of posts about her work. Perhaps in response to that, the artist has updated son site Web with new information and pictures about her crochet playgrounds.
What many of the articles that I’ve seen about her work fail to note is that this is not just one crochet playground that Macadam has made. She has been working on large scale interactive installations since the 1970s. Here’s an abbreviated chronolgy of some of her projects.
Early Work
There are two crochet art pieces shown in the Del Feldman book The Crocheter’s Art, qui a été publié en 1972 so this work obviously pre-dates that:
