It was the 1970s when fashion designer Kenzo Takada hit the scene. That would be the perfect time to have crochet in a collection … but does this designer have any crochet in his fashions? Prenons un coup d'oeil.
Fashion Designer Kenzo Takada
Kenzo Takada, 1970s
Kenzo Takada is a Japanese fashion designer who is known for combining influences from various cultures to create high-fashion looks inspired by folkloric style. The designer studied in Tokyo in the late 1950′s and moved to Paris where he opened his first boutique in 1970. The clothing from that store was first made with discount fabric bought at local markets and it fully embraced the hippie style of the day. It was designed to bring smiles to people’s faces. No matter how bit Takada got in the fashion world, he never ceased to inspire smiles.

En attendant,, here is some of the contemporary Kenzo crochet I found online:
Kenzo Spring Summer 2009
Crochet Vest by Kenzo sold through FarFetch
What a cute Kenzo kids top with a crochet collar
2009 Kenzo dress with crochet butterfly detail
Kenzo herringbone shorts with crochet belt detail
This is a look from the 2006 Takada collection produced by LVMH. I couldn’t get any closer-up photos anywhere to see if that’s crochet or knit. The texture hints at crochet to me but it may not be.
Looks Like Crochet
Kenzo has a line of fishnet-covered prints (both clothing and accessories) that I really like. They aren’t crochet but I think the fishnet creates the illusion of openwork crochet at first glance.
