Lately I’ve been spending a lot of time checking out foreign language crochet blogs. I’ve also been checking out what people in other countries share of crochet on Pinterest. In order to find those things, I’ve not only done searches for “crochet” and checked the links offered on the foreign blogs I already follow but I’ve also done searches using the foreign translated words for crochet (such as tejer for Spanish).
I thought that you might be interested in what I’ve been learning about how to say the word “crochet” in other languages.
Crochet in Spanish is Tejer. It can also be called labor de ganchillo or croché.
Crochet in Italian is Uncinetto.
Crochet in French is Crochet. 
The word crochet originally comes from the French word for hook.
Crochet in Portuguese is Crochê.
Crochet in German is Häkeln.
Crochet in Dutch is Haken.
Crochet in Czech is Háčkování.
Crochet in Croatian is Heklati.
Crochet in Finnish is Virkkaus.
Crochet in Norwegian is Hekle.
Crochet in Turkish is tığ işi.
Crochet in Danish is Hækling.
Crochet in Filipino is Gantsilyo.
Crochet in Hungarian is Horgolás.
Crochet in Slovak is Háčkovanie.
Crochet in Indonesian is Merenda. It is the same word in Malay.
Crochet in Polish is Szydełkować.
Crochet in Irish is Cróise.
Crochet in Latvian is Tamborēt.
Crochet in Japanese looks like: Crochet
Crochet in Chinese looks like: 鉤邊
Crochet in Korean looks like: 크로셰 뜨개질
Crochet in Greek looks like: πλέκω
