Tres de los artistas de crochet que he reseñado aquí en el blog en el pasado tienen cada anunció recientemente sus propias noticias emocionantes.
Kate Jenkins de Cardigan
She says on her blog:
“Next week sees the opening of my first solo show in New York at The Rebecca Hossack Gallery 262 Mott Street NYC. For this exhibition I have taken inspiration from various American eateries in New York and created my own version crocheted in lambswool with lots of comic touches to many of the pieces.”
Este New York crochet art exhibit opens on December 5th and runs for almost a full month.
Helle Jorgensen (Piel de gallina)
Desde the gallery’s website:
“The Entropy Collection: Helle Jorgensen The definition of entropy, in simple terms, is the measurement of disorder in a closed but changing system. Although the concept originated in thermodynamics, in day to day life it manifests in the state of chaos when effort is not made to keep things in order. Before becoming an artist, Jorgensen trained in biology and worked in scientific research, observing the extraordinary structural beauty of the natural world. Each of her art works is an experiment in form and texture; with mistakes and variations in the process of making producing unexpected permutations. Her medium is predominantly discarded materials and her method is crochet. Jorgensen says, “My scientific background; the collection and limitations of found materials; the sculptural potential of a traditional craft technique have set up “rules of play”. Through the “rules of play” I have found fun and happiness in transforming waste materials into collections of objects, worthy of consideration. I hope I have revealed the order which can be created from waste and detritus.”
The show opened last week. The artist will be doing a presentation teaching people how to crochet with recycled materials on December 16th.
