Big Push in Year of Projects

Merry Christmas to all of my fellow YOP-ers!!

Year of Projects starts mid-year so that means we’re now halfway through. Sin embargo, when I set my goal for this project, I wanted to try to complete my 25 bolsos de ganchillo by the end of 2011, rather than the end of the project deadline in mid-2012. I didn’t quite accomplish that, which is okay, but I did make a big push here at the end of the year to get me closer to that goal. As such, I’ve got five new crochet bags to show off this week.

Here they are as a group:

About each of them:

crochet heart bag Big Push in Year of Projects

This crochet heart bag is a modification of the heart purse pattern by Sabra Morse. I liked the hdc heart pattern. I decided to leave off the handle to make it just a regular gift bag, not a purse. I also decided to use contrasting stitching all the way around.

This was based on the Crocheted Vintage Drawstring Bag Pattern at Cobbler’s Cabin. That bag was supposed to be crocheted with thread but I’m currently completely disinterested in small hook crochet so I used Patons Silk Bamboo and an F hook. I’m happy with how mine came out although I’ll definitely need to take a better photo when I get a good camera! The one thing I don’t like is my choice with the drawstring. I think I’m going to remove that chunky white drawstring and use a black ribbon instead.

This design was based on the Saquito de ganchillo from CrochetNow but I ended up getting confused by the pattern and just ending it as a rectangular gift bag. I liked the pattern well enough through the main part of it. However then it asked you to end off, start back at the starting chain and do additional rows and add some beading. I lost interested and decided I was happy with the bag as is.

This is my favorite of all of the bags made in this set. Es el Kid’s Rainbow Treasure Bag pattern from Crochet Uncut. I used a bigger hook to make a bigger bag (G instead of the D) and I chose five different colors from the five in the pattern but otherwise worked this pattern exactly until the end. At the end I decided to add the shells on top. As you may know, I don’t typically like changing colors frequently in my work but I did it for this one and I do really like the way that it turned out. Maybe I’ll do more colorwork in 2012!

This final bag is based on the March Chevron II Bag patrón de ganchillo at Suzie’s Stuff. I mostly followed the pattern with a couple of exceptions. Primero, I didn’t add a strap, because I wanted a gift bag instead of a purse. Y en segundo lugar, I did a color change in the back of the bag to match the Chevron stripe color instead of just doing the solid color.

Hope you’re having a great time with Year of Projects. See the links to what everyone else is making aquí.
