Maison Martin Margiela is a fashion brand associated with deconstructionism and upcycling, unique but popular facets of the modern fashion industry.
Fashion Designer Martin Margiela
Martin Margiela is a Belgian fashion designer who lets his clothes speak for him. He doesn’t grant interviews and always stays behind the scenes, something that is very rare in today’s media-saturated fashion world. He has worked for Jean Paul Gaultier and the Hermes brand. Σε 1988 he founded his own brand, Maison Martin Margiela (MMM), launching his first collection in Paris that year. Σε 2002 his house was aquired by Diesel; the designer stayed on for another seven years and then retired from his label in 2009 What he’s most well-known for is deconstructing clothing and putting it back together in unique ways. He is also known for upcycling used and found objects, something that’s been especially popular in fashion in recent years.
