I bought this brown sweater recently in a thrift store. I’ll be honest in saying that I’m not 100% sure it’s crochet. I am still not always able to tell the difference, which I’m a little embarrassed about, but it’s the case. I am almost sure that this is large hook single crochet with nylon novelty yarn but it’s possible it’s knit. In other thoughts, that scarf is one of my very favorite ever thrifted items purchased earlier this year from a Goodwill.

@msdgunter I hadn't thought of that since it's not crochet but it's actually a super great scarf. I wear it all the time so I'll have to take some pics soon and do a post follow-up!

@biancabezig Thanks for the feedback. Someone else thought it might be hairpin lace. For my own knowledge, how can you tell that it's knit? What's the clue to look at?

@CrochetBlogger The even rows, the way the yarn goes. I think the yarn is sometimes worked twice or threetimes around the needle instead of one time. That way you get the long loops.

You can look at google pictures about the difference between knitting en crocheting.

@biancabezig Yep, I've looked at lots of pictures but I still just can't always tell the difference. I'm getting better at it though.

It's knit, but it's nice :)

@carolmckayau For my own knowledge, how can you tell that it's knit? What's the clue to look at?

@CrochetBlogger The knit side of the work looks like Vs and the purl side, well that has horizontal bars so that is probably where it gets confusing.

@carolmckayau Thanks. I don't have much interest in knitting but sometimes I think I should learn the basic knit and purl so I can have better insight into this!
