Designer Crochet: Rodarte

The New York Times ran a feature this fall about the upcoming summer 2013 fashion designs as featured on the season’s runways. One of the names that came up was Rodarte, a brand known for its handcrafted details including crochet work. There is only a little bit of crochet in that particular collection but the article inspired me to do a roundup of beautiful Rodarte crochet.

The New York Times noted that “a sweater with orange crochet squares linked with metal were in Rodarte’s fine tradition of handwork.”

Fashion Lover shared this photo of the Black Swan Costume by Rodarte that was featured at the Rodarte: States of Matter Exhibit at MoCA.

Rodarte Crochet Tops, 2010

Rodarte’s crochet tops were popular in 2010 but people were shocked when the brand also released crochet socks – selling them for $500 per pair.

Rodarte’s Crochet Shoes for Opening Ceremony are my more style. You?

  1. Love, love, LOVE those shoes and wish I was 30 years younger!

  2. I meant to say so that I could wear them!

  3. Wow, that´s nice! Especially the shoes in crochet! That is inspiring.

  4. What a load of bunkum, of course you could wash those sock, just in the basin with a bit of wool wash instead of in the washing machine, I think they are lovely, what do you think Kathryn? Of course I couldn’t pay that for them. Seen any patterns around for something similar? I like them a lot. :)
