Wie ich bereits erwähnt letztes Jahr, my dad spends his summers in Ohio where he goes to auctions, yard sales and antique stores. He is a custom woodworker who also harvests urban lumber to transport back to Arizona for resale so mostly he’s looking for wood, but it always keeps an eye out for me for good deals on yarn and vintage crochet magazines or books.
I just got a package from him of a huge box of yarn that he spotted at a yard sale. Es wurde zum Preis von $8 und verhandelte er es in bis zu $5.
This new haul adds a bit to my stash, which reminded me that I haven’t done a post in a long time about Surmount My Stash. I haven’t kept up with my original month-by-month plan. Jedoch, I’ve done a good job of meeting most of my overarching goals:
- I wanted to stop buying cheap yarn. The goal here was to buy less yarn but better quality. I actually really haven’t been buying yarn much at all this year but what I’ve gotten has been high quality stuff that I wanted to use.
- I wanted to try bartering for yarn I needed. I haven’t done this but I also haven’t had any specific yarn I needed to purchase so it hasn’t really come up yet.
- I wanted to seek out yarn support for design projects. I haven’t done any designing, and I’ve shifted my goals and plans so I don’t really see that happening, but I’ve been working harder to get yarn in exchange for reviews and trades, and that’s been going well.
- I said I’d set specific budget goals before big events where I might buy yarn. And I’ve done that successfully.
I’ve also been doing some stashbusting with what’s left here and that’s another major part of the plan. What does your yarn stash look like these days?
