My Crochet: Crochet Improves a Knit Sweater

I’ve finally got a little something to show off that I’ve crocheted in 2012. It’s about time that I’m finally getting going with my crafting again!

What you’re looking at here is a thrift store knit sweater that I’ve enhanced with crochet to make it fit better and exhibit some more unique personal style. The two-blue striped part is the sweater that was originally purchased. I’ve actually had it for awhile and have worn it now and then but the problem is that it was too short to look truly flattering. I’d wear it with a long tank top underneath and that disguised the flaw but it’s much better to actually fix the problem. I did that by lengthening the sweater with crochet rows. The yarn that I used was Red Heart Shimmer in black.

I did a few rows of double crochet to kick it off. Then the rest of the rows are V-stitch until the end when I did a slight shell but doing ch 2-sc in each stitch. I also added a few crochet embellishments. I did three circles that I placed large-button-style down the front of the sweater. And I did a small flower that I placed on one hand.

I don’t have any photos of me in the sweater yet but I’m sure that will come up soon as part of my 365 Ways to Wear Crochet daily photo post project!
