One of the things that I’ve seen a lot lately in crochet news is mention of the crocheted body parts that are made by Sarah Louise Burns. (I first found out about them last week via Neatorama). Burns is actually a New York City actress who does crochet work in her spare time. What she crochets is various organs and sometimes other body parts.

As you can see from the picture of the crocheted heart above, she puts a lot of effort into making her crocheted body parts look anatomically correct. In addition to the heart, items that are currently in her Etsy shop include crocheted lungs (regular as well as smoker’s lungs), a crocheted urinary tract system, a crochet brain, a liver, a pancreas, a thyroid and an eye.

I’m not sure quite what you would do with these items. She did turn the heart into a pillow so there’s some potential there. Or else you could just put them on display. They’re unusual little items that she’s selling for a fair price. And the crochet work looks well done.

Have you ever seen anything like this before?
