Well-known fashion design brand Prada was founded in 1913 by Mario Prada. Men, it is his youngest granddaughter, Miuccia Prada, who has made the list of Simon Werle’s 50 Fashion Designers You Should Know. Both the Prada brand and her Miu Miu brand have featured crochet.
Miucci Prada didn’t have any design experience when she became a manager of her grandfather’s business in 1978. What she had was a PhD in political science and a unique eye that took Prada in new directions and ultimately made it a name people knew. She presented her first Prada shoe collection in 1983, followed by her first women’s ready-to-wear collecetion two years later. In 1992 she debuted a men’s line as well as her own fashion line, Miu Miu, which is a more affordable line than regular Prada. In 1998 she took introduced a Prada sportwear line and the following year she took over the fashion houses of Jil Sander and Helmut Lang (which were then resold in 2006). Med andre ord, this busy fashion designer and businesswoman never stops taking her fashion ideas in new directions! Although she helped make a name for minimalism in the Prada line in the 1990s, there’s no concise way to sum up her creations because she’s always working to try new things!
