I was going through the news about crochet from a variety of sources and I came across a mention about Susie Hewer who is going to be running in next month’s Liverpool Marathon. What does that have to do with crochet? Nothing except that she happens to hold the Guinness World Record for crocheting the longest chain while running a marathon! I didn’t know about her previously and had to learn more!
Susie Hewer: Knitting Runner
They had better be careful or they’re going to need medical code Y93D1.
Susie Hewer Also Crochets
Although she is known more for her knitting, Hewer definitely also crochets. I 2010 she decided to crochet a chain while running the London Marathon and that’s when won the Guinness World Record for “the longest crochet chain whilst running a marathon”. A browse through her blog reveals that she’s currently wrapping up a hækling bedstemor firkantet tæppe.
Susie Hewer: Impressive Runner
I don’t run so I don’t know a ton about it but I do know a little bit. Hewer has run approximately two dozen marathons. In addition, she has run two longer ultra marathons. She runs to raise awareness and money for Alzheimer’s Research in the UK. Kudos to this woman.
