Last Monday I shared a bit of what I did crochet-wise and yarn-wise during my recent vacation. Men, I had to ship myself some stuff that hadn’t arrived yet when I did that post so now I’m sharing part two of the trip:

Unfinished Projects

My mom started a few crochet projects many years ago that never got finished. She gave a couple of these to me which I’ll be finishing in my own way sometime later this year:

Mom made tons of these triangles in lots of colors that I think I’ll put together as a blanket. Or … ?

Doilies

One of the things I found out about the Midwest is that every antique store, thrift store and yard sale is overflowing with doilies for sale. I am not typically a fan of doilies. However I found a few at various places that all kind of went together and caught my eye so I did come home with a few:

Other Thrift Store Finds

I snagged a cute crochet collar at a yard sale:

I found this great vintage slip with a crochet top. I was planning to take the top off and use it in my budding line of repurposed crochet dresses but I actually may have a different plan in mind now. We’ll see:

And I picked up four cassette tapes for super cheap because I’ve heard about a lot of people starting to crochet with the ribbon from these tapes and I wanted to try it. Unfortunately I’m not finding it very easy or enjoyable so far but I’m going to read up on how people are doing it to see if I’m doing something wrong.

Garn

During my trip I got tons of yarn. As I mentioned in the last post I bought a crochet afghan at a yard sale for $1 and reclaimed the yarn for my first reclaimed yarn project. Here’s what I got from it:

I also found some other various crochet yarn and thread here and there for cheap:

But of course the yarn I’m most excited about is the stuff I got at various stores including some great sale items:

These were all on sale (I got 3-5 of each of them) and they are all yarns I’ve never tried before. They are Berocco Chinchilla, Trendsetter Yarns Coconut, The Alpaca Co. Suri Ribbon, Plymouth’s Italia Fingerpaint, Firenze Boucle and Gedifra Torrdio. Anyone used any of these before?

And yes, there’s even more:

These ones are: the Crazy Zauberball, Plymouth Yarn’s Happy Feet, Paton’s Bohemian, Starry Sock Weight Hand Painted Yarn by Dream, and Fern Loop-d-loop. Again, I haven’t used any of these so it will be fun to see how they work up!

I also visited some great yarn stores during my trip but I’ll postpone that for the final Part 3 vacation post.
