Please take a moment to take this crochet health survey. It will help us learn more about how crochet heals people. Spread the word far and wide to get other people to participate as well! Here’s the press release that tells you more about it.
“Is crocheting fun? Yes, and relaxing, and addictive. But there’s something deeper about crocheting. It allows me to clear my mind, but also to think, and I believe helps me with my concentration. It’s helping me become more focused and less absent-minded. Now that I have a deeper appreciation of the craft, I say this to all women who have children: teach them to crochet.” – A post from new crocheter Rebeca Schiller (@SchillerRebeca)

“The women of the Gitga’at First Nation will lead a symbolic blockade against the Northern Gateway pipeline on June 20, 2014, by stretching a crochet “Chain of Hope” across Douglas Channel to show their deep opposition to oil tankers and oil spills in BC’s narrow coastal waters.” source
“Jessica Lambrick sits in her living room with a pile of blankets while holding a picture of her daughter, Hannah Miller, who passed away last December at just six days old. Lambrick and a group of women, calling themselves Hearts for Hannah, are crocheting blankets for BC Children’s Hospital, and plan to donate them to other families and children who are dealing with tough medical situations.” – Victoria News
“Since April 2010 – as Mr. Kramer was in the initial stages of a series of facial surgeries and treatment for cancer – Ms. Kramer has been on a head-hugging giveback mission.” She just hit the milestone of crocheting 1000 hats for donation. source.
I was excited to see about this crochet volunteer opportunity: “Knit and crochet with the adult residents and clients who are blind or have low vision. The group will work on projects to donate to charities as well as projects for their own use. Volunteers must have basic knitting or crochet skills.”
