For today’s 2013 Awesome Crochet Blogger Awards I’d like to give an award for the most unique crochet How Tos. This year’s crochet award goes to Fresh Stitches.

About this Awesome Crochet Blog Award

All of the crochet tutorials out there are important to our crochet community. However, a lot of them are repeats of material that are already out there; while they may add new photos or new video they deal with the same content. Blogs that create truly original How To articles for things that we need to know as crocheters and don’t have as much info about are really special and deserve to be recognized.

Why the Winning Blog Won

Fresh Stitches really has a keen sense of what types of things people are struggling with how to do in crochet and that’s what she creates tutorials around. You can tell by this that she really knows her stuff because she works it herself. For example, she recently covered a very basic topic on where the “2nd ch from hook” actually is; something we should know but that isn’t covered on its own in other tutorials. She often covers amigurumi topics such attaching craft eyes through thick fabric. In addition to being on unique topics, her crochet tutorials are clear, easy to understand and supplemented with solid photos.

This Blog Previously Won …

I’m a huge fan of the Fresh Stitches blog. She won the 2011 Awesome Crochet Blog Award for best crochet tips and the 2012 Awesome Crochet Blog Award for best crochet podcast.

Also About this Crochet Blog

As you can tell, there’s a lot that I think is done well on this blog. From her unique suggestions (finding skin color yarn) to her multi-craft explorations to her shares of her new patterns and projects there’s always something fun and inspiring to check out here.

Special Thanks to the Blogger

Although it didn’t affect my choice of award winner in any way I just wanted to say special thanks again to the blogger for her ongoing support of my work including consigning some of my books this year in Pittsburgh and spreading the word about Hook to Heal.
