2013 Awesome Crochet Blog Awards: Best Crochet Finds

For today’s 2013 Awesome Crochet Blogger Awards I’d like to give an award for the best crochet finds of the year. This year’s crochet award goes to Knithacker.

About this Awesome Crochet Blog Award

Some of my favorite crochet blogs are the blogs that don’t necessarily have a lot of their own original content but instead do brief sharing regularly linking the the amazing crochet work from other bloggers, artists and designers. This shows a lack of ego as well as a talent for curating the best of the best in the crochet world. It’s also a way to strengthen ties and links in the crochet community by spreading the word about the great crochet work others are doing. This deserves to be recognized!

Why the Winning Blog Won

Knithacker is a curation blog sharing the most unique work being done in knitting and crochet and occasionally other fiber arts. They take submissions but they don’t publish every submission; they clearly take a close look at the work that’s submitted and consider whether or not it’s really the most interesting, publishing only what is. I really love the unique finds here, especially in the area of crochet art. Their finds are broken down into categories (such as art and geek and yarnbomb) and subcategories (in geek there’s book, eco, TV and more). The finds are right on the pulse of today’s trends but are usually unique from what is found on other sites.

This Blog Previously Won …

I haven’t previously included Knithacker in my annual awards roundup but I’ve been following this blog for years and have always enjoyed it. Each year there are only about 30 blogs that get these awards so I can’t get to everyone and in the first years I really wanted to recognize the smaller, less well-known blogs first. Knithacker has a wider reach but I’m glad to celebrate the great work of the site this year!
