For today’s 2013 Awesome Crochet Blogger Awards I’d like to give an award for the best crochet colorwork. This year’s crochet award goes to Heidi Bears.

About this Awesome Crochet Blog Award

I absolutely love looking at crochet projects made by people who incorporate an array of different colors into each piece. I don’t do a lot of color changes in my own work because I don’t like changing colors and weaving in a lot of ends, although I’m increasingly doing more and more colorwork because I do love the final look so much. I’m impressed by people who not only do the detailed work to change so many colors but who also choose and use the right colors to make a variety of different hues look just right together. That should be recognized!

Why the Winning Blog Won

Heidi Bears won this crochet blog award this year because she consistently creates items that are filled with multiple colors. The colors are bold and rich and beautiful and she does a great job of selecting colors that complement each other in a fun way. Her work is just pop-py and exciting! My favorite example of this year is her own crochet pattern for the African Flower Rhino. A rhino rich in colors – who would have thought of it?!

This Blog Previously Won …

I have linked to Heidi Bears several times this year in my link love posts and on social media but this is the first time that the blogger has won one of my annual crochet blog awards. Each year there are only abut 30 winners so I can’t fit everyone in that I love. I’m happy to recognize this blog’s efforts this year.

Also About This Great Crochet Blog

In addition to her beautiful colorwork, I really want to recognize this blogger for the variety of different work she has done specifically with the African Flower motif, one of the most popular crochet patterns out there. She’s done variations on the design, join-as-you-go tutorials, other items constructed from it (a bear, a pony, a hippo) and more. She’s really done a terrific job of showing the full range of this beautiful motif. She’s also done other tutorials (like the magic ring) and sometimes incorporates multicraftual information including knitting and fabric work.

@CrochetBlogger Haha, I was procrastinating last night. It seemed the best way to use that time. Thanks for all you do to promote !
