Today I’m taking a break from my November series showcasing my favorite items from my various Pinterest boards to do my annual Thanksgiving roundup of reasons that I continue to be thankful for having crochet in my life.
Crochet Reduces My Depression
As I explained in detail in my book Crochet Saved My Life I was literally rescued from the depths of despair due in part to crochet. I have also seen how crochet helps so many other people with so many different ailments and I am thankful for this for them as well, not just for myself. I am thankful for everyone who has ever reached out to tell me that they understood what I meant about the lifesaving and health-promoting aspects of the craft!
Crochet Has Connected Me To An Amazing Community
I never cease to be thankful for the many amazing online and offline connections that I have made in the crochet community. Crochet blogging in particular has led me to amazing connections. I feel so lucky each day when I sign online and connect with my crochet community.
Crochet Is My Art Form
It’s a terrific form of self-expression and outlet for creativity. I treasure the opportunity to create art with this craft. I’ve loved participating in a variety of different small and large art projects including some community art projects, thanks to crochet.
Crochet Writing is My Bread and Butter
In addition to my crochet book writing and my writing here on Crochet Concupiscence I also do writing about crochet for a variety of other publications. I am a regular crochet tutorial and post writer for the Crochet Today blog. I have done multiple guest posts and series for Lion Brand Yarn. I have a column about every day crocheters in Interweave Crochet Magazine. And I always welcome the opportunity to write more about crochet!
Crochet Makes Me Happy!
What better reason is there than that?!
Why are you thankful for crochet? What else are you feeling gratitude for this Thanksgiving?
