Stitch Red Crochet Patterns

I recently wrote about the Stitch Red project, which includes a book slated for 2013 release called Crochet Red. This project is designed to raise awareness about heart disease, the number one killer of women today. One way to support the project is to purchase Stitch Red crochet patterns. When you do, a portion of the proceeds goes towards supporting the Foundation for the National Health Institutes’ The Heart Truth program. And since the Stitch Red colors are red these are also coincidentally great projects to make for Christmas this year.

So let’s take a look at some of the Stitch Red crochet patterns available for purchase:

Crochet Red Purse

The crochet pattern for the The Ruby Romance Evening Clutch/Purse by Tanis Galik is $3.99 through Ravelry. 10% of proceeds will go to Stitch Red.

Crochet Fingerless Gloves

The very first crochet pattern donated to Stitch Red was the pattern for these beautiful buttoned fingerless gloves by Dora Ohrenstein. This is a $5 crochet pattern.

Crochet Shawl

This is a design by Rebecca Velasquez called The Sister Shawls and it actually comes with a pattern in crochet and a matching pattern for knitters so this one will work for everyone.

Don’t Forget the Yarn

There are also lots of different brands of beautiful red yarn in different shades that are marked as Stitch Red products so when you purchase them at least 5% of the proceeds will also go to fighting heart disease. Get the yarn whether you’re using one of these Stitch Red crochet projects or just making something else in red this winter.

If you are a crochet designer, you can support Stitch Red by making one of your designs an official Stitch Red design and donating a portion of the proceeds to the cause. Learn more here.
